Benefit Corporation

Benefit Corporations (B-Corps) represent an evolution of the very concept of a company. While traditional companies exist solely for the purpose of distributing dividends to shareholders, Benefit Corporations are ordinary partnerships or capital companies, including cooperatives, that, in addition to profit-sharing goals, pursue one or more common benefit purposes. They operate responsibly, sustainably, and transparently towards individuals, communities, territories, and the environment, as well as cultural and social assets, institutions, associations, and other stakeholders.

 

Zumaglini & Gallina has therefore decided to pursue, in the conduct of its business activities, the typical purposes of Benefit Corporations as defined by the law of December 28, 2015, No. 208, and in particular the following specific common benefit purposes, aimed at generating measurable social value in the public interest and creating conditions for the maintenance of satisfactory economic results:

  • The promotion of a work environment focused on enhancing human capital in all its diversity and on the growth of skills and responsibilities of employees.
  • The development of quality, reliable, and resilient infrastructure, offering professional design services that integrate innovative and sustainable technologies and materials for the benefit of a greater positive environmental and social impact on clients.
  • The growth of one’s industrial ecosystem in a logic of partnership and the creation of long-term value.
  • Collaboration and synergy with non-profit organizations, foundations, and similar entities whose purpose is aligned and synergistic with that of the Company to contribute to the enhancement of the natural and artistic heritage of the territory.

These purposes have been identified, considering the UN’s Agenda 2030, selecting the reference objectives 8, 9, 11, and 12:

Decent work and economic growth

  • 8.5 By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.
  • 8.8 Protect labor rights and promote a safe and secure working environment for all workers, including migrant workers, especially migrant women, and those in precarious employment.

Sustainable cities and communities

  • 9.1 Develop quality, reliable, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on ensuring fair access for all.

Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

  • 11.3 By 2030, enhance inclusive and sustainable urbanization and capacity for participatory, integrated human settlement planning and management in all countries.
  • 11.4 Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage.

Responsible consumption and production

  • 12.2 By 2030, achieve sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
  • 12.5 By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.
  • 12.6 Encourage companies, especially large and transnational corporations, to adopt sustainable practices and integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycles.
  • 12.7 Promote sustainable public procurement practices in line with national policies and priorities.
